Sipher Digital ("we", "us", "our") is a web design and development studio based in Christchurch, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It's written to align with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).
1. Information we collect
We collect personal information you give us directly, primarily through the contact form on this site. Depending on what you fill in, that may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your company name
- An approximate project budget range
- Any details you include in your message
We don't require an account to browse this site, and we don't collect payment information here — quotes, invoicing, and payment happen separately once a project is scoped.
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Reply to your enquiry and discuss your project
- Prepare quotes, proposals, and contracts if you engage us
- Keep basic records of client and prospect communication
We do not use your contact details for unsolicited marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. How the contact form works
The contact form on this site validates your entry in your browser and then opens your device's email client with a pre-filled message addressed to us — the message is sent from your own email account, not stored on a server we control. If this site is later updated to submit the form directly (for example, via a hosting provider's form service or a CRM), this policy will be updated to reflect that before the change goes live.
4. Cookies and third-party services
This site does not currently use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. It does load a small number of resources from third-party services in order to function, which means your browser sends a request (including your IP address, as with any web request) to those providers when a page loads:
- Google Fonts — for the site's typefaces
- jsDelivr — a content delivery network used to load the GSAP animation library
Neither is used by us to track you across sites. If we add analytics (such as a privacy-conscious visit counter) or advertising pixels in future, this section will be updated first, and a cookie consent notice will be added if required.
5. Disclosure to third parties
We may share information with service providers who help us run this business — for example, our web hosting provider, or email service — strictly to the extent needed to provide that service. We do not disclose your information to any other third party unless required by law.
6. Where your information is stored
Enquiry details you send us are stored in our email inbox and, once a project begins, in our project and accounting records. Depending on the tools we use, some of this data may be stored on servers outside New Zealand (for example, with email or hosting providers based overseas). We take reasonable steps to ensure any third party handling your information provides a comparable standard of protection.
7. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we hold from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you
- Request a copy of that information
- Ask us to correct any information that is wrong or out of date

9. Children's privacy
This website and our services are intended for business use and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we change how the contact form works or add new tools to the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
